Overview granted CRIG 'young investigator proof-of-concept' (YIPOC) projects

Since 2017, CRIG actively supports innovative cancer research in Ghent by awarding ‘young investigator proof-of-concept’ (YIPOC) projects to postdoctoral fellows (and senior doctoral researchers since a few years). With this seed funding, the awarded young researchers are able to generate proof-of-concept results to increase the success rate of future external grant applications. Numerous completed projects from the past years have demonstrated a clear output and lever effect, including the acquisition of postdoctoral fellow mandates and research project funding, new collaborations, valorization and publications, in which data from CRIG proof-of-concept grants were included.

The funding allocated for these projects is financed by CRIG - mainly through proceeds from donations and fundraisers (read more on how to support CRIG) - and co-financed (via a strategic partnership) by vzw Kinderkankerfonds (for projects focusing on pediatric oncology) .
