Preclinical evaluation of cancer drugs

The discovery that a certain molecule could be used as a new therapeutic against a certain cancer type is often made in the lab. However, before new medicines based on these molecules can be used to treat patients, they need to be extensively tested and validated. Many CRIG studies are focused on this pre-clinical aspect of cancer research and thereby bridge the gap between basic research and clinical practice.
