Cancer Center UZ Gent

Ghent University Hospital (UZ Gent) is a specialized cancer center (Kankercentrum) with great expertise in treating both common as complex and rare cancers. Every patient is supported by a team of medical doctors, nurses, nurse consultants and specialists, dieticians, psychologists and social workers. As such, cancer patients and their families can count on excellent care and tailored support.

CRIG and the cancer center (Kankercentrum) are close partners to stimulate multi-disciplinary cancer research and cancer care, respectively, and to make sure scientific progress translates into innovative and improved care for the patients.

Cancer Research Institute Ghent (CRIG)

CRIG unites over 500 researchers (80+ research groups) from Ghent University, Ghent University Hospital and VIB-UGent to stimulate fundamental, translational and clinical cancer research across expertise domains.

Health, innovation and research Institute (HIRUZ)

HIRUZ is the Clinical Research Centre of Ghent University Hospital (UZ Gent) in collaboration with Ghent University (UGent) and is composed of different units:

Clinical Trials Unit (CTU): provides help with submission and registration, monitoring and project management of clinical trials - Data Management Unit: provides support and advice in Biomedical Research Data Management - Patient Participation Unit:The Patient Advisory Board for scientific research (PAWO) provides advice from patient’s perspective and contributes to the development and improvement of clinical research - Innovation & Valorization Unit: provides advice on funding applications, valorisation and intellectual property - Health, innovation and research institute - Biobank is the central high quality biobank facility of UZ Gent and knowledge center for all aspects (practical, ethical, legal) related to sample collection, storage and distribution

Drug Research Unit Ghent (D.R.U.G.)

The mission statement of the Drug Research Unit Ghent (D.R.U.G.) is to contribute to the development of new drugs by conducting clinical trials (Phase 0 – I – II) in compliance with international legislation and quality standards.
