Nuclear receptors are transcriptional regulators that play important roles in cancer biology and are established therapeutic targets. Research in our group focuses on how nuclear receptor signaling and crosstalk, particularly involving the glucocorticoid receptor (GR), influence cancer cell behavior and treatment response. This includes studying GR-mediated glucocorticoid response and resistance in lymphoid malignancies such as multiple myeloma, as well as nuclear receptor mechanisms in other cancer contexts.

We investigate these processes through the functional characterization of nuclear receptor-targeting ligands and their effects on receptor signaling and crosstalk, as well as cancer cell responses, using a range of cellular and molecular approaches. By improving our understanding of these mechanisms, we aim to contribute to more selective and disease-tailored therapeutic strategies, as well as approaches to improve or restore treatment sensitivity.
