Digital PCR specialist course 2018

If you want to become an expert in digital PCR -a technology with many applications in cancer research - you can register for the specialist course. the course will take place on September 6, 7 and 10 at the faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Ghent University.

Digital PCR enables direct absolute quantification of nucleic acids with a higher accuracy and precision compared to real-time PCR based quantification. Thanks to recent technological developments, digital PCR has become an affordable technology. Digital PCR has several advantages over qPCR as it does not require a calibration curve and is less susceptible to inhibition, providing a more accurate and precise quantification of template DNA molecules and providing a higher resolution to discriminate low frequent sequence variants (e.g. rare mutations in cancer or copy number variant (CNV) detection).

The course will provide an overview of the technology, combined with several fields of applications and use cases. In addition to this, the course will provide a framework for good experimental practice, including guidelines for assay design, data analysis and proper reporting standards.
