Focus on paediatric oncology (including clinical trials), neuro-oncology, hematology and radiation protection.
 

Biography

Tom Boterberg graduated in 1994 at Ghent University (Belgium).  After one year of residency in radiation oncology, he worked for 4 years at the Laboratory of Experimental Cancer Research on the molecular biology of the invasive and metastatic behaviour of breast cancer cells, leading to his PhD in 2000.  He then continued his training in radiation oncology and in 2001 he obtained his Board Certificate in Radiation Oncology.  He currently works as head of clinic at the Department of Radiation Oncology at Ghent University Hospital, as associate professor at Ghent University and consultant at the interuniversity proton treatment centre PARTICLE in Leuven.  He is especially interested in paediatric oncology, neuro-oncology, hematology and radiation protection. He is author or co-author of over 120 articles in peer-reviewed journals.  He is chairman of the radiotherapy committee of SIOPEN and member of the radiotherapy committee of EpSSG and the RTSG. He is board member of the BACR and SIOPE, and steering group member of the SIOPE radiation oncology working group and the SIOPE radiotherapy quality assurance programme for paediatric oncology trials QUARTET.  He is chairman of the ACOE and former chairman of the BANO.
