dr. Philippe Decruyenaere (MD, PhD)

Postdoctoral researcher - OncoRNALab , Center for Medical Genetics (UGent)
Hematology resident – Hematology Department (UZ Gent)
Principal investigators: prof. Fritz Offner (MD, PhD) & prof. Jo Vandesompele (PhD)
Research focus
My primary research goal is to explore the potential of liquid biopsy in lymphoid malignancies and plasma cell dyscrasias, with a particular emphasis on cell-free RNA (cfRNA). I aim to investigate how cfRNA can contribute to improved diagnostics, prediction of therapy response, minimal residual disease (MRD) monitoring during follow-up, and ultimately, the advancement of personalized medicine. By leveraging the unique molecular insights provided by cfRNA, my research seeks to develop non-invasive, dynamic tools to better understand disease biology and optimize patient care.
