prof. Nico Callewaert and prof. Hans Van Vlierberghe collaborate in a VIB Grand Challenges program to overcome the main diagnostic challenges for patients with liver disease

CRIG

To better diagnose and monitor patients with liver disease using non-invasive techniques

That is the mission of prof. Hans Van Vlierberghe (Head of Department Gastroenterology and Hepatology at UZ Gent) and prof. Nico Callewaert (director of the VIB-UGent Center for Medical Biotechnology). Both principal investigators have a long standing and successful collaboration in the search for improved diagnostic methods for liver diseases. In the context of the VIB Grand Challenges program, the collaboration is even strengthened and aims to develop better and faster non-invasive technologies that can be used in the clinic to better diagnose and monitor patients with liver diseases, which can also have important implications for liver cancer patients.
