Kankercongres 2019 inspired and united a broad target audience on progress in cancer research
The 4th edition of 'Kankercongres: van onderzoek tot hoop' (Nov 23, Gent) brought together almost 400 professionals, students, patients and their relatives, and delegates from foundations and companies.

Since cancer affects everyone, we want to organize a cancer conference accessible for everyone
Kankercongres 2019 is an initiative by ‘Cancer Research Institute Ghent’, ‘Kankercentrum UZ Gent’, ‘Beautiful After Breast Cancer’, ‘Stop Darmkanker’, and ‘Center for Oncological Research’ (UAntwerpen).
Our unique concept - a conference on cancer, accessible for everyone - attracted a broad target audience. Expert speakers shared their knowledge in clear presentations on cancer research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and patient participation. During the meet-the-expert sessions on breast cancer, colon cancer, skin cancer, prostate cancer and advances in cancer research and clinical studies, the participants asked their questions to the experts. The organizers as well as several foundations, patient organisations and companies also provided relevant information for the participants at information stands. The final panel debate - strongly moderated by journalist Ivan De Vadder - featured an impressive line up of relevant opinion makers. From the perspective of the different stakeholders, they discussed about whether we invest enough in cancer research. A video of the whole debate will be available soon!
