Jolien Van Laere

Research focus
The Ntziachristos lab studies the mechanistic aspects of oncogenesis with an emphasis on transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of acute leukemia. Important questions are related to how oncogenes interact with each other and with epigenetic modulators to influence gene expression programs as well as how their function is related to three-dimensional (3D) structure of the nucleus, how oncogenes are control at the post-translational level via (de)ubiquitination and other biological aspects of cancer cells, such as splicing.
Biography
Since I obtained my bachelor in pharmaceutical and biological laboratory technology in 2014, I have been working at Ghent University in the cancer research field. It’s a pleasure to work towards a better understanding of the development of cancer in such a high-tech environment.
In 2022, I joined the Ntziachristos lab, and I really look forward to expand my knowledge in the field of T-ALL.
