'Intersectional inequities across the cancer continuum' - seminar

Seminar with Prof. Sara Macdonald (School of Health and Wellbeing, University of Glasgow).

An expanding body of research documents large social inequalities across the cancer continuum, spanning prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and palliative care. Yet most of this research is fragmented, focusing either on one stage or on one dimension of inequality. Prof. Sara Macdonald will take a broader, longitudinal perspective and reflect on the accumulation of inequities across the continuum while also highlighting the intersectionality of multiple forms of disadvantage.

Prof. Macdonald is director of Innovation, Engagement and Entreprise at the department of General Practice & Primary Care, University of Glasgow. She is a sociologist researching various stages of the cancer care continuum including perceptions of screening, cancer risk, experiences of treatment burden, and long-term condition management, focusing primarily on marginalised groups.
