Single-cell software of the Prof. Yvan Saeys lab supported by a Chan Zuckerberg Initiative grant

With the Essential Open Source Software for Science (EOSS) program, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) grants a total of 3.8 million USD to open-source software projects essential to biomedical research with the aim to enable scientists to hire additional developers, improve documentation, address usability, improve compatibility, attract contributors, convene communities, and more.

One of the 23 selected projects is the ‘dynverse’ project developed by the lab of Prof. Yvan Saeys (VIB-UGent/CRIG), providing an ecosystem of open-source software for analyzing and interpreting single-cell data. The researchers who developed the platform are extremely pleased with this grant, as classical funding channels are often hesitant with software development projects, while in the long run, these tools are crucial to push the biomedical field even further.
