KULeuven, UGent & Quality by Design join forces in QbD chair for glioblastoma research – support the research on Precision Oncology in Glioblastoma

About the QbD Chair for Precision Oncology in Glioblastoma

Glioblastoma is the most aggressive brain tumour today. Despite extensive research over the past decade and intensive standard-of-care therapy, the odds to defeat this tumour are very limited, due to the high intra- and intertumour heterogeneity. The Laboratory for Precision Cancer Medicine (LPCM, KULeuven) is already working for years on a new strategy to find the clinically most beneficial treatment for every tumour and patient.

Two years ago, our own CRIG group leader Prof. Pieter Van Vlierberghe, a world authority in the field of childhood leukemia was diagnosed with this aggressive disease, and decided to do everything in his power to beat the disease. As such, he has joined forces with the Laboratory for Precision Cancer Medicine. They will jointly examine new treatment methods based on single cell technology, supported by a the QbD Chair for Precision Oncology in Glioblastoma - the chair was set up by Bart van Acker, the founder of Quality by Design (QbD),.

QbD’s support makes it possible for them to continue the development of their methods with the aim to acquire the right markers for as many therapies as possible, to link the most beneficial one to every patient.

Donate for the chair or sponsor the run of Wesley Boers in the IRONMEN to support Glioblastoma research

The last speaker at the event is Wesley Boers, a personal friend of Prof. Pieter Van Vlierberghe. He decided to go the extra mile to raise funds for the Chair by participating in the IRONMAN of Frankfurt under the slogan ‘226 km for Glioblastoma research @KUL & UGent’. You can follow his preparations via his facebook page (Ironman fundraiser - 226km for glioblastoma research | Facebook) and sponsor him via this link ) or you can donate to account number BE45 7340 1941 7789, BIC code KREDBEBB of KU Leuven, with structured communication +++400/0022/07902+++. All proceeds will be transferred to glioblastoma research.
