A new gps technology at UZ Gent for the diagnosis of lung cancer

Lung specialist dr. Thomas Malfait (Ghent University Hospital) has applied for the first time in Flanders a new technology for the diagnosis of lung cancer. With a three-dimensional gps and a fine catheter, dr. Malfait can take a biopsy of small and difficult accessible lung lesions. The technology could help in the earlier detection of lung cancer and faster treatment which is important to increase the survival chance.
