dr. Valentina Goftman (PhD)

As Business Developer, Valentina Goftman is responsible for coordination and facilitation towards commercialization of new research findings in the broad field of chemistry. She serves as the primary contact for partnerships with industry, developing strong connections with life science companies that can benefit from advanced chemical know-how or innovative patented technologies to accelerate their R&D. Her role covers a broad range of activities, including:

• Overseeing collaborative projects with both academic institutions and commercial entities
• Shaping and maintaining a strategic intellectual property portfolio
• Identifying and pursuing licensing prospects, as well as handling licensing negotiations
• Supporting the establishment of new spin-off ventures
   

Valentina holds a PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences and built her professional background in industrial R&D and product development. In 2023, she took on the role of Business Developer at ChemTech, Ghent University’s Chemistry Business and Valorisation cluster that brings together 20 research groups with expertise spanning (bio)organic synthesis, polymer chemistry, medicinal chemistry, inorganic nanomaterials, and advanced analytical chemistry.
