5200 Fragment Analyzer (Agilent)
Platforms & Expertise
accessible to academic partners
Description
- Mode of action: capillary electrophoresis to determine nucleic acid fragment length and concentration
- 2.5 µL sample input needed of DNA (5-500 picogram/µL) or RNA (2.5 ng/µL).
- Using the DNA kit (50-1500 bp max):
- electropherogram with determination of length, concentration, and optional smear analysis - Using the RNA kit:
- quality of the sample (RIN value)
- analysis of RNA fragment length and concentration - The instrument has 12 capillaries, and a run takes 1 hour for all 12 samples (11 samples and one ladder); an entire 96-well plate can be loaded for overnight analysis
- A core team operates the instrument, and samples can be analyzed in service at cost (for Ghent University researchers). Make an appointment via fragmentanalyzercyto@cmgg.be .
