'Organ-on-chip models: recent advances, applications and challenges' - invited speaker symposium

The 'IBD Research Unit / Barriers in Inflammation Lab' (Department of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics)
organizes a 'Meet the PhD Jury' invited speaker symposium.

The event will start with keynote lectures of two renowned experts in the field of organ-on-chip modeling and will be followed by a round table discussion.
Keynote 1 (14u00-14u45): Organ on a chip – how to keep it simple but still be physiologically relevant – prof. dr. J Malcolm Wilkinson (Sheffield University / Kirkstall Ltd.)
Keynote 2 (14u45-15u30): Biological Barriers in Multiorgan Platforms: Advanced Strategies for Non-Invasive Real-Time Permeability Assessment – dr. Simone Perottoni (Politecnico Di Milano)
Round table discussion (15u30-16u30): ‘How to start using an organ-on-chip model for your research’
This round-table discussion is meant to foster an open, collaborative environment. During this session, each participant will have the opportunity to briefly present their research and to seek expert guidance on integrating organ-on-chip platforms into their projects. In addition to providing tailored scientific input, the discussion will offer participants valuable opportunities for direct interaction with experts and peers, thereby serving as an excellent networking forum.
