Research focus

In vitro follicle culture and oocyte maturation have been considered as experimental fertility preservation strategies for patients under fertility threatening treatments (radiotherapy, chemotherapy, testosterone treatment). Nevertheless, in vitro grown oocytes are inferior to their in vivo counterparts. In this project, we are assessing the quality of in vitro grown oocytes (mouse model) and in vitro matured oocytes originating from transgender men. Our ultimate goal is to explore the possibility to use these oocytes for future clinical practice and also overcome poor embryo development by applying nuclear transfer technology.
