Research focus

My research deals with the development of an in vitro model for the liver. This model is established by 3D-printing of biopolymer based hydrogel scaffolds and subsequent hepatocyte seeding to create liver microtissues. The main target of this model is to screen for the hepatotoxicity of drug compounds in the preclinical phase. Furthermore, this model can also be applied as a model for different kind of in vitro liver research, such as relevant liver cancer research.
