Research focus
Ulcerative colitis and Familial Adenomatous Polyposis affect over 2 million people in Europe.
Current surgical treatments still fail to restore the essential biomechanical properties of the damaged or removed tissue, often leading to a reduced quality of life. In this project, we aim to develop new gelatin-based biomaterials capable of mimicking not only the cellular microenvironment but also the mechanical properties of native tissue. These biomaterials are intended to support natural tissue regeneration through a minimally invasive procedure, ultimately improving patients' quality of life.
