Fluidigm spotlight featuring Jo Vandesompele lab!

CRIG

On the Fluidigm website, you can read an interview with prof. Jo Vandesompele, Celine Everaert and Karen Verboom on the characterization of total RNA in single cells. In collaboration with Fluidigm, the researchers developed a single-cell total RNA sequencing method that allows for the study of protein-coding and noncoding RNA. It is the first time investigators have been able to study both full-length long noncoding RNA and mRNA at the same time in each single cell in a cost-efficient manner using the Fluidigm C1™ system. This single-cell sequencing method can bring a better understanding to transcriptional regulation and goes deeper into the cellular identity of all different cell types in comparison with most other methods focusing only on protein coding RNA.
