'Explore the pore: an introduction to nanopore sequencing' - online UGent - PromethION seminar & call for project proposals

As part of the PromethION launch at UGent an online seminar 'Explore the pore: an introduction to nanopore sequencing' has been organised in colaboration with CRIG member prof. Filip van Nieuwerburgh and the UGent PromethION consortium.

Participants of this session will:

  • learn about new developments to the nanopore platform
  • hear discussion of case studies
  • receive guidance on how to plan your experiments.

In this seminar, a team of experts will give an introduction to nanopore sequencing. The session will focus on nanopore applications spanning human genomics, cancer and RNA sequencing. There will be discussion about the feasibility of studying structural variants and methylation in a single test, and how it is possible to sequence dark regions of the human genome. There will also be an opportunity to submit questions throughout the talks, which will be answered in the live Q&A sessions following each presentation.

  • Registration & program via this link
  • There is no delegate fee for this event. Your place at this event will be confirmed via email from events@nanoporetech.com

As part of the kick-off meeting, projects can receive “start-up support” from ONT. Please send a one-pager project proposal to frederieke.koller@nanoporetech.com (before the 2th of December) with subject “Start-up Support UGent”. The projects will be evaluated by ONT and possibly suggestions will be made to improve experimental setup and/or analysis. The 10 best projects will receive a free flow cell. The selected projects will be announced at the end of the symposium. More info here.
