Research focus
In recent years, metal oxide nanocrystals have gained significant importance in the field of nanomedicine, particularly for bioimaging applications.
My research primarily focuses on the synthesis and surface modification of metal oxide nanocrystals. Specifically, designing and synthesizing new families of ligands that serve as tools to finely tune both the properties of the nanocrystals and their behaviour within living organisms.
The ultimate goal is to develop and test new nanocrystal formulations to be used as imaging probes for image-guided surgery, with the aim of detecting either primary tumours or sentinel lymph nodes.
