Research focus

Our cancer research is part of the ESMRMB working group GliMR (Glioma MR Imaging 2.0). GliMR is a European research network dedicated to advancing MRI techniques for improved glioma diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and patient outcomes. Within GliMR, we focus on the development of imaging biomarkers, bridging several fields such as preclinical and clinical MR, and AI-based analysis. For example, GliMR has published several systematic overviews of the current state of the art in advanced MR for glioma, guiding both research and clinical applications.

Additionally, due to the limited availability of local data, GliMR emphasizes multi-site data integration, supporting efforts in open science and data sharing. We contribute by developing GDPR-compliant informed consent, supporting Open Brain Consent, and creating a GDPR-compliant animation video on data sharing to improve patient understanding and transparency in research.

Education and community-building are core to GliMR's mission. We organize training schools, provide a beginner’s guide for MRI data processing, offer webinars, and engage with the broader scientific and medical community through social media and outreach. These initiatives help expand expertise in advanced MRI for glioma at all career levels.

GliMR collaborates with patient organizations, such as the International Brain Tumour Alliance (IBTA), and research networks like EIBALL, ensuring that our work aligns with patient needs and broadens its impact within cancer research. By connecting experts across disciplines, GliMR fosters collaboration and innovation, aiming to improve glioma imaging and, ultimately, patient care.
