Promote # ECND19Go4Safety: European Cancer Nursing Day 2019

Soon, on May 18, 2019, the European Cancer Nursing Day 2019 will take place again. On European Cancer Nursing Day (ECND), the European Oncology Nursing Society wants to highlight the importance of specialist oncology nurses throughout Europe. During this day we want to highlight the importance of recognizing the specialization of nurses in oncology / hematology / radiotherapy, and the need for specialized education and training. In addition, this is also a unique moment to put ALL nurses who provide care for people with or after cancer in the spotlight.
 
This year's theme - 2019 - is patient (s) - and workplace safety, with 4 key messages:
•    Always speak up and question if something is, or appears to be wrong
•    Provide information to patients & their significant others and encourage them to take an active part in their care
•    Avoid direct contact with cytotoxic and radiation drugs when planning pregnancy or during pregnancy
•    Always follow safety precautions; use personal protective equipment

The European Oncology Nursing Society invites all nurses who care for people with and after cancer, in health care institutions, home care, ... to support European Cancer Nursing Day 2019 and to distribute and promote the calls-2-action (s).
