INFINITY
Mission
INFINITY is one of the approved core facilities of Ghent University and part of CORE ARTH, offering preclinical multimodal medical imaging services to various departments of Ghent University, the Ghent University Hospital, the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology (VIB) and the industry. The lab houses a wide range of state-of-the-art preclinical medical imaging devices for non-invasive in vivo imaging of laboratory animals. The following imaging technologies are available: positron emission tomography (PET), single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound (US), and optical imaging (bioluminescence and fluorescence imaging). Next to these imaging modalities, INFINITY also houses a micro-irradiator for small animal precision image-guided radiotherapy.
INFINITY has collaborations with several departments of Ghent University and the Ghent University Hospital. One of the major research domains of INFINITY is multimodal imaging in cancer research.
CORE ARTH INFINITY is located in The Core building at the campus of the Ghent University Hospital. The lab is also part of the Medical Image and Signal Processing (MEDISIP) research group, which is affiliated with the Institute Biomedical Engineering and Technology (IBiTech) of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. MEDISIP research focuses on the development of novel medical imaging technologies and applications.
