Uppsala Health Summit 2018 on the theme: Care for Cancer will take place on June 14-15 at Uppsala Castle.
Uppsala Health Summit is an annual international arena for dialogue between experts and decision-makers from academia, industry, healthcare, policymaking and civil society on how to make more of our research results for better health and healthcare globally. Discussions aim to deliver policy suggestions and to initiate new collaborations.
Each year, 150 – 200 selected delegates participate in this highly interactive meeting. This is the fifth summit and our experiences from previous years is that the dialogues at the Summit are highly productive and often are the starting point for new productive collaborations. 2 – 3 guest invitations this year are extended to the partners in the Guild network, and you are kindly asked to share this with interested researchers from different academic disciplines. It may be worth underlining that this is a truly cross-disciplinary meeting.
The program will be organized around solutions-oriented workshops and plenum sessions and address a range of issues related to our ability to ensure equitable access to cancer diagnosis, treatment and care. These include barriers and opportunities for biomarkers, global biobanks and drug repositioning, how to make use of data in health care, implement precision medicine, plan for physical exercise in treatment, and organize care for a growing number of cancer survivors.
For the plenary sessions, speakers will include Greg Simon, Director at the Biden Cancer Initiative; Dr. Mariângela Simão, Assistant Director General at WHO; Dr. Susan Galbraith, Head of Oncology at AstraZeneca; Professor Max Parkin, Oxford University; Professor Arnie Purushotham, Tata Trust, Mumbai and Thomas B. Cueni, Director General, International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations.
Any questions on the Summit purpose and program can be addressed directly to Project Manager Madeleine Neil, madeleine.neil@uadm.uu.se.
