'Study of host-microbiome interactions in health and disease, using transgenic and germ-free mouse technology' - VIB-IRC seminar

VIB-IRC is hosting a seminar, entitled 'Study of host-microbiome interactions in health and disease, using transgenic and germ-free mouse technology' by CRIG group leader prof. Lars Vereecke.

Increasing evidence indicates that our microbiome, the collection micro-organisms in and on our body, influences various aspects of host physiology, including immunity and metabolism. In order to functionally understand how the microbiome contributes to heath and disease, we study transgenic mouse models of human disease in germ-free and gnotobiotic conditions. We have a particular interest in intestinal epithelial biology, colorectal cancer, and the gut-joint axis.
