CRIG workshop for children on 200 year UGent
On Sunday October 8, Ghent University celebrated its 200th anniversary with the ‘Everyone Ghent University’ event and displayed what our university has to offer. From science festivals to street performances and interactive demonstrations: it was a unique day full of insight and discovery.
CRIG organized a workshop for children (target audience 10-12 years) – ‘Kanker behandelen: (g)een kinderspel’. The basic concepts of cancer and cancer treatment were explained to small groups. Children were able to learn interactively about cancer by discovering research lab items, seeing cancer cells through a microscope and playing games that help understanding how different treatment options work.

Besides our workshop, also following events related to cancer were organised during that day:

- Vechten tegen kanker – motion book that explains immunotherapy (developed by prof. Tessa Kerre)
- Breastboard: 'comfortabel' borstkanker behandelen
- Hoe het voelt om een proefkonijn te zijn – discover how to participate in scientfific research (organized by Health, innovation and research institute (former Bimetra))
