Extracellular vesicles (EV) derived from liquid biopsies are emerging as potent biomarkers in health and disease, especially in cancer. However, the complexity of liquid biopsies and the plethora of isolation and detection methods for EV introduce variability that impedes interlaboratory concordance and clinical application.
To evaluate and mitigate this variability, we have developed recombinant EV (rEV) as a biological reference material that can be used as a quality control for EV-related liquid biopsy experiments, as a calibrator for EV measurement techniques and as a spike-in material for normalization purposes.
