Research focus

Radiotherapy is part of the treatment of most breast cancers. Patient positioning plays an important role in the radiation dose received by healthy tissues. Minimizing dose to these tissues decreases chances of treatment induced side effects. While for whole breast irradiation, there are clear benefits of treatment in the prone position, the patients that require regional nodal irradiation are treated in supine position because technical difficulties prohibit prone positioning.
Our team developed a novel method to enable regional nodal irradiation in prone positioning, and we are currently investigating the benefits of this positioning technique.
