- Department of Applied mathematics, Computer Science and Statistics (Faculty of Sciences, UGent)
Principal investigator: prof. Yvan Saeys (PhD)
Research focus
The research group of Yvan Saeys operates at the intersection of computer science and biomedical research. In the clinical applications subteam, we collaborate closely with clinicians, and develop algorithms and pipelines to analyze clinical data.
My research focuses on the computational analysis of single-cell clinical data to better understand how the immune landscape evolves during cancer development and treatment. I develop pipelines and algorithms to analyze flow cytometry data from patients with abdominal mesothelioma and lung cancer undergoing immunotherapy. In addition, I integrate and analyze CITE-seq and scATAC-seq data from patients with hematological malignancies who have undergone stem cell transplantation (HSCT), with the aim of unraveling the mechanisms underlying operational tolerance after HSCT.
