Research focus
TAOK2 belongs to the MAP3K family and is the largest of three enigmatic proteins (TAOK1, TAOK2, TAOK3), combining kinase and protein scaffolding functions to serve a variety of signaling pathways. Recent studies highlighted the involvement of TAOK2 in antiviral immunity, regulation of microtubule dynamics and requirement for nuclear speckle integrity. While the role of TAOK proteins in physiology and disease is still emerging, progress is hampered by a paucity of structure-function insights. Our aim is to better understand the domain interplay and how it leads to its role in physiology and disease.
