Biography
Tim Desmet has a background in Tissue Engineering. He did his PhD at Ghent University on 3D-printing biodegradable meniscus implants in combination with biogical coatings and cells. After almost a decade at Agfa-Gevaert, where he worked as business developer/innovation manager, he now works at the University Hospital of Ghent. As a business developer for UGent TechTransfer he helps clinicians and researchers to bring their research on ATMPs to a first-in-human clinical trial or to the market. This by creating spin-off companies or by setting up collaborations with the pharmaceutical industry. He supports several centers performing clinical studies such as the center for vaccinology, the center for drug research and the GMP manufacturing unit in their work with external partners. He holds an MBA and is an early investor in several spin-off companies.
