'Epithelial-mesenchymal plasticity in carcinoma metastasis' lecture by prof. J. Yang

Lecture by Prof. Jing Yang (Moores UCSD Cancer Center, Univ.of California, San Diego)

Short biography prof. J. Yang:

Prof. Jing Yang’s research interest is to understand the molecular basis of tumor metastasis. Her research team utilizes cell and molecular biology tools, mouse tumor models, functional genomics, and 2D/3D imaging techniques to uncover the genes and the signaling pathways responsible for tumor metastasis. Specifically, we have identified two cellular programs, Epithelial to Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) and invadopodia-mediated extracellular matrix degradation as being critical for tumor invasion and metastasis. Prof. Yang continues to dissect the signaling pathways regulating these programs and to test the importance of these signaling pathways in tumor metastasis in both mouse tumor models and human tumor samples.
