CRIG researcher & YIPOC laureate Maude Jans selected for the EOS Pipet 2025

CRIG

Each year, Eos awards a young scientist who has made a significant contribution to scientific research. One of this year’s five laureates is our very own Maude Jans (from the team of Prof. Geert van Loo & Prof. Lars Vereecke).

Maude Jans is involved in research on bacteria that cause colorectal cancer. She focuses on the bacterial proteins responsible for the adhesion of these bacteria to the cells of the intestinal wall and recently published her findings in the prestigious scientific journal Nature. You can find more information about the research (and a fascinating video) here.

Maude is also one of our CRIG grant laureates (16th call) and has just been awarded a postdoctoral grant from the FWO to continue her groundbreaking research. To us, it’s crystal clear that she truly deserves this award!

Eos recorded a podcast with Maude, which you can listen to here (in Dutch).

All that’s left to say is: go vote! Voting is open until July 31 via this poll (in Dutch). The winner will be announced in the course of September.

Good luck, Maude!
