CRIG 'young investigator proof-of-concept projects’: laureates 3rd call

CRIG

CRIG provides research grants for young (postdoctoral) cancer researchers at CRIG to initiate potentially high-risk and innovative cancer research projects. In this 3rd call, following postdocs were awarded, and have started their project on March 1, 2018:

  • dr. Bram De Wilde – ‘Non-invasive tissue of origin prediction for paediatric solid tumours using methylation profiling of circulating cell-free DNA’ (promotor of the grant: prof. Katleen De Preter)
  • dr. Tiago Franca Brazao – ‘Implementation of a massively-parallel CRISPR-interference screening platform for the identification of therapeutic lncRNAs in neuroblastoma’  (promotor of the grant: prof. Pieter Mestdagh)
  • dr. Hetty Helsmoortel – ‘Extracellular RNA detection in liquid biopsies: towards a better diagnosis of prostate cancer patients’ (promotor of the grant: prof. Nicolaas Lumen)
  • dr. Joao Portela Catani – ‘Self-amplifying mRNA with gene silencing capacity as an innovative all-in-one device that simultaneously combines inhibition of immunosuppressive pathways with cancer vaccination’ (promotor of the grant: prof. Niek Sanders)
  • dr. Pieter-Jan Volders - 'Design of selected reaction monitoring (SRM) assays to detect novel micropeptides in cancer' (promotor of the grant: prof. Jo Vandesompele)

Despite high quality of submitted projects, unfortunately only top-ranked applications were granted due to limited resources. The next call for these YIPOC projects will be launched in July 2018.
