Biography

Tom Boterberg graduated in 1994 at Ghent University (Belgium).  After one year of residency in radiation oncology, he worked for 4 years at the Laboratory of Experimental Cancer Research on the molecular biology of the invasive and metastatic behaviour of breast cancer cells, leading to his PhD in 2000.  He then continued his training in radiation oncology and in 2001 he obtained his Board Certificate in Radiation Oncology.  He currently works as head of clinic at the Department of Radiation Oncology at Ghent University Hospital and as associate professor at Ghent University.  He is especially interested in paediatric oncology, neuro-oncology, hematology, sarcomas and digestive oncology. He is author or co-author of over 80 articles in peer-reviewed journals.  He is chairman of the radiotherapy committee of SIOPEN, member of the radiotherapy committee of EpSSG and board member of SIOPEN and SIOPE, where he is also involved in the radiotherapy quality assurance programme for paediatric oncology trials.  He is also board member of the BANO and the BACR.
