Research focus

My research topic is focused on the (radio)synthesis, in vitro and in vivo evaluation of new amino acid PET tracer for ASCT-2 imaging. ASCT-2 is a Na+-dependent antiporter of neutral aminoacids. In many tumor types it is correlated with a poor prognosis.

Different chemical classes of inhibitors of the transporter are synthesized and tested for radiolabelling with 18F. The affinity towards glioblastoma are studied through in vitro inhibition of glutamine uptake. In vivo, the tracers are tested in a glioblastoma rat model.
