In memoriam Prof. Dmitri Krysko
With great sadness, we inform you that CRIG group leader Prof. Dmitri Krysko has passed away. His sudden passing leaves a great void among his team members, colleagues, and the CRIG community.
Prof. Dmitri Krysko was CRIG group leader and headed the Cell Death Investigation and Therapy (CDIT) Laboratory. His expertise in the molecular mechanisms of immunogenic cell death and its applications in cancer immunotherapy has had a significant impact in the international research field. As a renowned scientist, he acquired numerous awards, such as the Belgian Royal Academy of Medicine award (read more), and the AstraZeneca Foundation Scientific Prize (read more). Prof. Krysko acquired several prestigious research projects, published in leading journals, and built a strong and visible research group with extensive national and international collaborations.
Besides his scientific excellence, Dmitri was deeply committed to the academic community. He was a member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium, an expert for the Superior Health Council, an associate editor and editorial board member of several leading journals, active member of the International Cell Death Society, and much more. His passion for research and education made him a valued colleague and a source of inspiration to many.
His sudden and unexpected passing leaves a great void within CRIG, his research group, the department, the faculty, and the international scientific community. Our thoughts are especially with his family, friends, and colleagues.
