T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is a rare and aggressive cancer of precursor T- cells, most occurring in children. Nowadays, patients are treated with intensive chemotherapy. However, a significant number of patients relapse and become refractory to intensive treatment. Therefore, more effective and less toxic therapies are required.
The focus of my research on the one hand is to acquire a better understanding and to optimize the use of the drug Decitabine in T-ALL and T-LBL, and on the other hand the epigenetic prediction of sensitivity towards the less toxic anthracycline variant aclarubicin in T-ALL.
