CRIG member

Resident, department of radiation oncology, Ghent University Hospital
Postdoctoral researcher, Faculty of medicine and Health Sciences, department of Human Structure and Repair
Chairman of the Commission of Reimbursement for Implants and Invasive Medical Devices, NIHDI
Principal investigator: prof. Liv Veldeman (MD, PhD)

Research focus

  • Topic 1:  Adjuvant breast radiotherapy: toxicity as well as effectiveness of acceleration of radiotherapy to five fractions
  • Topic 2: Cost-effectiveness of different adjuvant breast radiotherapy schedules through time driven-activity based costing analysis (collaboration with Den Haag)
  • Topic 3: Treatment of lymphedema as treatment-related complication:
    - EFFORT-bcrl trial: effectiveness of manual lymph drainage for upper limb lymphedema after breast cancer
    - prospective cohort of patients undergoing gynaeco-oncologic treatment to detect prognostic factors, to develop a strategy for detection of early lymphedema and to evaluate the effect of compressive garment in early stage lymphedema
